Abstract

This essay is located in the debate about the perception of the apparent dichotomization between "theory" and "practice" in anthropological work. We want to provide the postulate that such separation is unreal, because both aspects are imbricated in the actual anthropological task, since any action carried out by the human being, layperson or scientist, necessarily has a theoretical background that gives meaning. We will problematize these points: What is the theory for science, in particular for anthropology? Is fieldwork the expression of anthropological practice?
