Abstract

The iconographic language is a historical watershed for the study of post-revolutionary newspapers and magazines, such as the Universal which presented various commercials advertisements. However, for this visual discourse analysis, it is necessary to circumscribe it in two temporal conjunctures, those that explain the internal structure of society and realize the compositional reason of the images in question. Even though, journalistic language had differences, the commercial image could expose concerns and ideals of the society and present stylistic elements to identify its authors.
