The actual use of heritage buildings in Paseo De Montejo

Abstract

El Paseo de Montejo is one of the most emblematic avenues and one of the most important places in Merida, which holds a great number of architectonic pieces which reflect the historical moment of the richness in Yucatan, when the Henequen plantations were a key part of the state’s economy. The construction of several mansions, as well as the urban design illustrate the opulence, standing out of the typology of the rest of the city; nowadays, that heritage has survived because of some actions; not entirely appropriate but it has bestowed on new uses that adapt to historical buildings.
