Abstract

My work in visual ethnography illustrates the therapeutic diversity of the Teenek healers of the Huasteca Potosina, specifically from the community of Huehuetlán. The healers or Dhitom are responsible for protecting and healing the body, house, cultivation plots or sacred spaces against disease, witchcraft or envy. The images show portraits of healers on their altars, diagnostic tools, ritual actions and the community context.
