Abstract

The enchantment of men that was used between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries to identify those practices that, by means of certain types of substances or arts, intended to change or change the natural order of affective relationships. These practices had the objective to ensure the women control over masculine proclivity, contrary to their will, through which they could establish relationships that guarantee their economic security or sexual satisfaction, achieve well-off marriages and better treatment, alleviate sorrow and passions without corresponding , compensate jealousy, spite, indifference and masculine arrogance, to convince and retain the beloved or, simply, to avoid abandonment.
