The Tren Maya and its social processes: notes on social participation studies and the promotion of community based tourism.

This proposal analyzes three cases of social processes linked to the Tren Maya carried out between 2021 and 2022. Specifically, it addresses the socialization and social participation studies for the design of the stations and sustainable communities of Nuevo Xcan, Quintana Roo and Izamal, Yucatan, as well as the promotion of community tourism along the train route. The information for this work was obtained through ethnographic fieldwork and accompaniment to social processes in the Yucatan peninsula. A critical balance of these social processes and the development of the Tren Maya project in this area during the period of time indicated is offered. Likewise, possible routes of analysis and academic involvement are discussed in order to contain and mitigate the negative effects and optimize the possible benefits that this project could have in the region.
