Abstract

Twelve years ago I traveled to Mexico as a tourist, then, I realized the many differences that exist with my country of origin, the USA. UU, which fascinated me. From the beginning, the white paint on the wooden trunks, the strong sun, the people kneeling as they passed through the cathedral but, especially, I was attracted to the people themselves, their mestizo characteristics and their traits I did not know.

When I started photographing with my "medium format camera", I painted the faces of all the people, in the street or wherever I was. Having limited knowledge about Mexican culture led me to photograph subjects singularly isolated from the landscape.
