Abstract

What are we? or what do we want to be? There is a bit of an obsession with an African quality, a frantic search for an African archetype that is exemplary. This can be badly positioned if, in consequence, it is a definition frozen in time. What we should do, contrary to this, is to celebrate the essence of the African condition, to politicize an African identity as a deliberate strategy of containing the excess of globalization. We stop the knowledge and resources to build the "character" of this African condition. In truth, we have even the resources to politicize and legitimize a definition of it.
